Av. Pogulay et al., AN ALTERNATIVE INTERPRETATION OF CS2- RESONANT STATES, Journal of electron spectroscopy and related phenomena, 70(2), 1994, pp. 95-101
An alternative interpretation of resonant states in the molecular nega
tive ions CS2-. is fulfilled with the help of the combined application
of previously reported data on resonant dissociative electron attachm
ent, photoelectron spectroscopy, electron energy loss spectroscopy and
absorption spectroscopy. It is shown that CS2 at energies ranging fro
m 3.35 to 7.80 eV is formed by the core-excited Feshbach resonance mec
hanism of the inter-shell type involving singlet excitation of a molec
ule and capture of an additional electron into the Rydberg orbital.
