T. Kimura et al., STRUCTURE OF PB-SI COMPLEX ALKOXIDE-PREPARED FROM LEAD ACETATE AND TETRAETHOXYSILANE, Journal of non-crystalline solids, 178, 1994, pp. 255-261
The products of the reaction between lead acetate and tetraethoxysilan
e in 2-methoxyethanol at 100 degrees C were estimated by kinematic vis
cosity measurement and infrared and H-1 nuclear magnetic resonance spe
ctroscopic techniques. Two reaction methods were used; in method I lea
d acetate and tetraethoxysilane were mixed in 2-methoxyethanol, wherea
s in method II each reactant was pretreated in 2-methoxyethanol and th
en mixed. The reaction product in method I was estimated as (CH3COO)-P
b-O-Si-(OC2H4OCH3)(3), which polymerized on prolonged heating. In meth
od II lead acetate and tetraethoxysilane were changed to (CH3COO)-Pb-(
OC2H4OCH3) and Si(OC2H4OCH3)(4) respectively before mixing. The reacti
on product in method II was estimated as (CH3OC2H4O)-Pb-O-Si-(OC2H4OCH
3)(3). No polymerization reaction occurred because of the absence of a
cetyl group in the reaction product.
