This study develops a method of solving an inverse problem of a nonlin
ear ordinary differential equation with incomplete initial conditions.
The investigation was originally motivated by the studies in biomedic
al research on white blood cell-endothelia cell (WBC-EC) adhesion and
its related contact geometry. The WBC-EC interaction depends strongly
on WBC deformability and the expression of WBC-EC adhesion molecules.
A biomechanical model developed to explain this biological interaction
has led us to this mathematical problem. Two algorithms for solving t
he equations have been developed.
