A method is proposed for analysing processes in converters of various
designs, based on symmetrical components of voltages and currents and
of greater generality and accuracy compared with the classical method.
Two models of parameter-bounded transient processes that take place d
uring an external short circuit in a converter with a Kubler coil are
established. Methods for simultaneous testing of transformers and reac
tors for electrodynamic stability are proposed. One economical. method
for limiting the circulating current by the use of a four-core transf
ormer is investigated. The theory is illustrated by an example of two
converters: in one of these, transformers limit the circulating curren
t and smooth out ripples of rectified current while in the other, an i
nterphase reactor divides the current between the opposed stars.
