Abstract
Reaction of [Pt(C2H4)(PPh(3))(2)] with propenoate or 2-methylpropenoat e esters gave the complexes [Pt(propenoate)(PPh(3))(2)] in good yield. These have been characterised by H-1, C-13, P-31 and Pt-195 NMR spect roscopy. The complex of benzyl propenoate has been characterised in a diffraction study. Reaction of the complexes produced with tricyclohex ylphosphine, PCy(3), gave [Pt(propenoate)(PCy(3))(PPh(3))]. The propen oate complexes were shown to be more stable than those of the 2-methyl propenoates.
