M. Singer, A PROFILE OF SPECIFIC PSYCHOTHERAPEUTIC ACTIONS FOR BORDERLINE PSYCHOPATHOLOGY - PSYCHOTHERAPEUTIC PSYCHOANALYSIS, The Psychiatric clinics of North America, 17(4), 1994, pp. 827-837
To enlarge our treatment armamentarium, new treatment approaches are p
resented to address major disturbances in the mind that previously hav
e not been adequately handled. These new psychotherapeutic skills are
linked conceptually to new paradigms that widen the therapeutic scope.
It is suggested that a new name be given to these new approaches for
developmental arrests to contrast it with psychoanalysis proper and ps
ychoanalytic psychotherapy. The new name would be psychotherapeutic ps
ychoanalysis, and it would exist along an overall continuum with psych
oanalysis proper and psychoanalytic psychotherapy.
