A. Vandermerwe et Djj. Vanrensburg, MAIN-BEAM REDUCTION FOR COMPACT RANGE IMAGING, IEE proceedings. Microwaves, antennas and propagation, 141(6), 1994, pp. 461-463
The identification of unwanted scatterers in a compact range can be ac
hieved through microwave-imaging techniques. It is known that the succ
ess of such an approach is determined by the extent to which the level
of the incident signal directly from the reflector (main beam) can be
reduced relative to those of the unwanted signals. A technique is des
cribed to achieve this through spatial translation of a phase probe. I
t is shown that the technique has advantages over the well known techn
ique of spatial filtering. One-dimensional images showing the location
of unwanted scatterers in the particular facility are also presented.
