Abstract
A new approach is presented for the study of wave propagation characte ristics in uniform hollow conducting waveguides of elliptical cross-se ction. This approach uses direct polynomial approximation to represent the curved boundary of the waveguide structure. The integration over the cross-section of the waveguide is performed by an analytical formu la which saves computation time. The new approach is more efficient an d more accurate than existing methods.
