Sj. Xia et Wf. Zhou, STUDIES OF THE EFFECT OF BISMUTH ON THE ANODIC-OXIDATION OF LEAD IN SULFURIC-ACID-SOLUTION BY PHOTOCURRENT SPECTROSCOPY, Journal of electroanalytical chemistry [1992], 379(1-2), 1994, pp. 423-426
The anodic film formed on Pb-9 at.% Bi alloy at 0.90 V (vs. Hg/Hg2SO4)
in 4.5 M H2SO4 solution (25 degrees C) was studied using photocurrent
spectroscopy. The presence of bismuth does not change the band gap en
ergy (2.0 eV) or the flat-band potential (-0.28 V vs. Hg/Hg2SO4), but
reduces significantly the photocurrent of t-PbO in the anodic film. Th
is may be due to the presence of Bi2O3 crystallites in the t-PbO film.
