L. Whitlock et Jc. Lochner, OBSERVATIONS OF THE SMALL MAGELLANIC CLOUD BY THE VELA 5B X-RAY MONITOR, The Astrophysical journal, 437(2), 1994, pp. 841-844
We present Vela 5B observations of the Small Magellanic Cloud region o
btained during the years 1969-1979. We detect the 3.89 day orbital mod
ulation of SMC X-1 with a false alarm probability of 4.3 x 10(-3) and
observe a ''high state'' beginning in 1970 September and lasting simil
ar to 100 days. We also detect three outbursts by a transient source c
onsistent with the position of the candidate Be-neutron star system H0
107-750 (=1H 0103-762). These events occur roughly 100 days apart and
last for similar to 35 days. No detections of SMC X-2 or SMC X-3 are a
pparent above a limit of similar to 7 x 10(37) ergs s(-1).
