The 1/2 [<1(1)over bar>0] extended dislocations were first observed in
Cr-alloyed gamma-TiAl lamellae of the Ti-45 at.% Al-3 at.% Cr alloy b
y high resolution electron microscopy. The equilibrium width and the e
nergy of the complex stacking fault (CSF) ribbon bordered by two 1/6 [
<1(2)over bar>1\-type partial dislocations were determined experimenta
lly. The results show that Cr addition drastically decreases the CSF e
nergy in gamma-TiAl.
