Passive haemagglutination tests, utilizing a highly purified, specific
Fraction I antigen of Yersinia pestis have been employed to detect an
tibodies in the sera of pneumonic patients of Surat city. The high ant
ibody titres observed in a majority of sera samples (85.2%) from conva
lescent patients 2 to 3 months following the outbreak are indicative o
f Y. pestis infection.
