Rm. Leuschner, COMPARISON OF AIRBORNE POLLEN COUNT AT 3 MEASURING STATIONS - DAVOS-WOLFGANG, WIESEN GR AND BASEL, Allergologie, 17(11), 1994, pp. 505-508
During the vegetation period of three years (1991-1993) there have bee
n investigations among others at three measuring stations in Switzerla
nd: Davos-Wolfgang (1600 m), Wiesen GR (1450 m) and Basel (273 m above
sea level). The research concerned the amounts of airborne pollen of
the ash, the birch, the grasses and the mugwort. It is obvious that es
pecially the amount of grass pollen in Wiesen is much higher than in D
avos and nearly equal to the amount in Basel. This was not expected. H
owever, the flowering of plants is later in the mountains in lower lyi
ng stations. The allergic patients should take this into account when
they choose the time and the altitude to go to the mountains.
