Abstract
This essay reviews Richard Zaner's Troubled Voices, a philosopher's re flection on his work as a clinical ethicist at a major medical center. Through stories of sickness and illness and the dilemmas posed by inf irmity, Zaner considers principal issues in clinical ethics and the ph ilosopher's place at the bedside.
