INTERACTION BETWEEN ACETAMINOPHEN AND BETA-CYCLODEXTRIN BY POWDER COMPACTION

The possibility of forming an inclusion compound between acetaminophen and beta-cyclodextrin by powder compaction has been investigated. The experimental results, obtained with a hydraulic press and a single-pu nch tabletting machine, clearly show that mixtures of included, amorph ous and crystalline acetaminophen are formed. Thermal analysis was emp loyed as the main analytical tool in order to follow phase transformat ion and interaction between components. The role of the intensity of i mpact in terms of forces, time duration and velocity is briefly outlin ed and discussed.
