Treatment of [CpCp'Ta(CO)(PPhCiH)]Cl (Cp' = eta5-C5H5, eta5-C5Me5, or
eta5-C5Me4Et, respectively Cp, Cp, and Cp+) with sodium methoxide res
ults in the formation of metallophosphinite complexes CpCp'Ta(CO{P(Ph)
(OMe)}. These compounds exhibit basic properties and Lewis acid fragme
nts [H+ or Cr(CO)5(thf)] readily undergo coordination at the phosphoru
s atom; formation of only one stereoisomer is observed. The heterobime
tallic complex CpCp+Ta(CO){mu-P(Ph)(OMe)]Cr(CO)5 7c is structurally ch
aracterized. Crystal data for 7c: a = 9.200(3) angstrom, b = 19.45(1)
