Ja. Forte et Rg. Green, THE RELIABILITY AND VALIDITY OF THE INDEX OF PEER RELATIONS WITH A CLINICAL AND NONCLINICAL SAMPLE OF ADOLESCENTS, Journal of social service research, 19(1-2), 1994, pp. 49-65
Although the Index of Peer Relations (IPR) has been designed for use w
ith adolescent and adult clients, previous evaluations of this promine
nt measurement device have been conducted with exclusively adult sampl
es. Consequently, there are no available empirical guidelines for the
use of this prominent measure with teenaged clients. The present study
, therefore, evaluates the reliability and validity of the IPR with a
sample of clinical and nonclinical adolescents. The results of the eva
luation of the IPR's internal consistency, concurrent criterion validi
ty, and construct validity strongly support the use of this instrument
with this younger population. However, further examination of prescri
bed clinical cutting points is recommended for the IPR.
