B. Boutevin et al., SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF A NEW BLOCK-COPOLYMER - POLY(BUTYLENE TEREPHTHALATE-CO-OLEFIN) APPLICATION ON PP PBT BLEND AND PBT HOMOPOLYMER, Journal of applied polymer science, 55(2), 1995, pp. 191-199
The synthesis of a new block copolymer was investigated by the condens
ation of terephthaloyl chloride, hydrogenated alpha, omega-dihydroxy p
olybutadiene and butanediol. The resulting (PBT) product is termed as
the hard segment, and the hydrogenated alpha, omega-dihydroxy poly-but
adiene is termed as the corresponding soft segment. This block copolym
er was characterized by FTIR, H-1 and C-13-NMR, DSC, and SEC. Quantita
tive estimations of the contents of block segments have been carried o
ut by NMR. The product was used either to increase the properties of P
BT/PP blends or the impact strength of PBT. In both cases the mechanic
al properties are described. (C) 1995 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
