Abstract
Karyotype analysis in nine strains of Lathyrus sativus (2n = 14) showe d the longest (6.61 mum) and the shortest (2.50 mum) chromosomes in st rains 3949 and PL-10, respectively. On the basis of the symmetrical an d asymmetrical karyotypes, the strains PL-4, PL-5, PL-6 and PL-10 are considered to be contemporary and advanced members; and the local stra in as primitive.
