Abstract
IAA-deficient mutants T10, T27 and TN3 were isolated from B. elkanii U SDA 31 by spontaneous and/or N-methyl-N'-nitro-N-nitrosoguanidine (NTG ) mutageneses. Inoculation with these mutants significantly reduced th e nodule number on soybean roots when compared to that of the parent s train. Furthermore, exogenous IAA application restored the nodule numb er of soybeans inoculated with TN3 to the original level.
