Abstract
Suppurative thyroiditis is a rare condition, most often arising from u nderlying abnormal anatomy. The most common organisms isolated from pa tients with suppurative thyroiditis are Staphylococcus aureus, Strepto coccus pyogenes, Staphylococcus epidermidis, and Streptococcus pneumon iae. Antimicrobial therapy results in eradication of the organism.
