The particular microstructure of PVC chains plays a great role on the
morphological organization. A heat treatment above the glass-transitio
n temperature induces modifications of this organization, In order to
follow the behavior of unstretched PVC fibres under heat treatment, we
used the spin-probe technique. Data obtained show clearly that the ch
osen probe diffuses at room temperature into two morphological amorpho
us areas. Under heat treatment, we observe a modification of the morph
ological structure. TEM and AFM results are in good agreement with ESR
data.
