Spectroscopic and calorimetric investigations of interactions between
trichloroaniline (A) and organic base: tetrahydrofuran or hexamethylph
osphoric triamide (B) in CCl4 solution were carried out at 298.15 K. T
he equilibrium constants and the enthalpies for AB and AB2 type comple
x formation processes were calculated from a combination of both calor
imetric and spectroscopic data. The results obtained suggest that, as
in the case of earlier investigated complexes of pentafluoroaniline wi
th the same organic bases, the enthalpy of formation of the first hydr
ogen bond in the AB2 type associates is higher than that of the second
one.
