Abstract
Examples of the application of the eletroreductive cyclization reactio n to the construction of the bicyclo[3.2.1] carbon framework are prese nted. The reaction works best with an unsaturated nitrile as the elect rophore, and when cyclization occurs onto an unhindered acceptor unit. Yields ranging from zero to 90% have been obtained. Aspects of the sc ope and limitations of the process are described.
