Abstract
This position paper was developed in response to a discussion led by I ris Gordon, president of the Social Work Division of the American Asso ciation on Mental Retardation (AAMR) at the 1991 annual meeting on the importance of social work values and the need for clarification in ot her divisions of the AAMR. The role of social workers and the importan ce of social work values in the field of developmental disabilities we re discussed.
