Jm. Leibowitz et al., CLIENT PERCEPTIONS OF QUALITY-OF-LIFE IN ACCREDITED AND NONACCREDITEDCOMMUNITY RESIDENTIAL FACILITIES, Journal of developmental and physical disabilities, 6(4), 1994, pp. 339-346
Consumer satisfaction as an indicator of quality of life relative to t
he certification/accreditation level of community residential faciliti
es was examined using three separate measures. One hundred forty six s
ubjects residing in 47 separate Centers for the Developmentally Disabl
ed (CDD's) were surveyed. Results indicated that residents of national
ly accredited CDD's rated their quality of life as superior to those c
lients living in nonaccredited facilities. Suggestions for changes in
program evaluation methods utilizing consumer satisfaction as a major
variable are offered.
