DIAGNOSTIC POTENTIALITIES OF MOLECULAR-GE NETIC APPROACHES IN THE TAXONOMY OF THE TRIBE BOVINI

Diagnostic characteristics of DNA (the characteristics are not specifi c) were obtained for the individuals of Bos taurus, Bos indicus, Bison bonasus and Bison bison. The methods of DNA fingerprinting and taxono mic DNA typing were used in the study. Individual and generic features of DNA suitable both for genome sertification and for solving some ta xonomic problems were determined. The similarity of molecular-genetic characteristics of DNA within the studied genera supplements existing diagnostic indices of Bos and Bison and shows, that under the wide int erpretation of the genera of the tribe Bovinii, only two genera, Bos a nd Bubalus, can be designated within the tribe. That was suggested ear lier by other authors basing on morphophysiological and cytogenetic da ta.
