Spin-lattice relaxation rates of radiation induced and background cent
ers in dental enamel have been investigated by electron spin resonance
techniques. It has been found that these centers differ in the value
of the saturation half-power and the saturation process. Based on thes
e experimental results a new approach to discrimination of the radiati
on induced signal from the total ESR spectrum of dental enamel is prop
osed. Comparison of the current methods of radiation dose estimation b
y the ESR analysis has been performed using the new approach.
