Abstract
Descriptions of eight new species of Ophiomyia (O. orientalis sp. n., O. vimmeri sp. n., O. Slovaca sp. n., O. pseudonasuta sp. n., O. morav ica sp. n., O. mohelensis sp. n., O. bohemica sp. n. and O. subheracle ivora sp. n.) from the territory of the former Czechoslovakia are give n. Distinguishing characters are documented by the illustrations inclu ding those of the male terminalia and the taxonomic positions of all t he new species are briefly discussed. A key to all the European Ophiom yia species is added.
