Abstract
The present study allows us to show the influence of the polarity of t he reaction, medium as well as the electron-donating and withdrawing c haracter of para substituents of alpha-halogeno tuluenes in the prepar ation of unsymmetrical disulfides using the Bunte salt method. The use of DMSO as a reaction solvent permits not only to dissociate the sodi um salt, but also to synthesise unsymmetrical disulfides from compound s, which are inadequate using conventional methods.
