A. Bertram et al., IDENTIFICATION OF ELASTIC-CONSTANTS AND ORIENTATION OF SINGLE-CRYSTALS BY RESONANCE MEASUREMENTS AND FE ANALYSIS, International journal of computer applications in technology, 7(3-6), 1994, pp. 284-291
This paper presents an optimization procedure that uses FE analysis to
identify the elastic constants of single crystals at elevated tempera
tures and the crystal orientation of a specimen based on resonance mea
surements. First, the measured natural frequencies are assigned to tho
se predicted by an FE model according to the orthogonality of the natu
ral modes. Then, the constants and orientation are adjusted by minimiz
ing the differences between the measured and calculated frequencies. T
he results for single crystals of the Ni-based superalloy SRR99 demons
trate the versatility and efficiency of the method.
