Abstract
The synthesis of allylseleno-3,5-dicyano-6-hydroxy-4-phenylpyridine ha s been carried out and its cyclization into yl-7-phenyl-2,3-dihydrosel enazolo[3,2-a]pyridinium triiodide has been studied. X-ray investigati on shows that allylselenopyridine in the crystalline state exists as h ydroxy derivative and the allyl substituent is approximately perpendic ular to the heterocyclic plane. In crystal the molecules are linked by hydrogen bonds forming dimers.
