Abstract
Esophageal perforation is a rare though potentially lethal complicatio n of variceal sclerotherapy. Diagnosis is usually made after recogniti on of often subtle clinical symptoms. Surgical and nonsurgical modalit ies have been proposed, and nonoperative management can be successful even in patients thought to have absolute indications for surgery.
