Deep-seated gravitational slope deformations and their relationships w
ith tectonic deformation of rocks is considered, to examine the viewpo
int of Tectonics as a causative factor in slope deformation. First, a
distinction is made between the different types of deep-seated gravita
tional slope deformation. Then, the geomorphological and structural ef
fects of the different macrostructural deformations induced by tectoni
cs, on the scale of the whole deforming ridge is briefly discussed. Fi
nally, some case studies that represent either verified or possible ca
ses of gravity deformation in response to tectonic activity are used a
s illustration.
