Abstract
A 4W ultraviolet light (peak emission at 250 nm) set at 1.5 m above gr ound level in the alleyways and corners of a rice warehouse, along wit h the use of a bait trap, detected accurately the presence of Rhyzoper tha dominica (F.) resulting in timely insecticidal treatment. Normal s ampling methods had not shown the presence of any insect even at a tim e when they were caught in large numbers in light traps.
