Abstract
The vertical distribution of weapons testing fallout Np-237 has been d etermined in an undisturbed grassland soil (Alfisol). By using a compa rtmental model for multi-layered soils, the mean residence half-times of Np-237 in each soil layer were calculated and compared with results on weapons fallout Pu-239+240, Am-241 and Cs-137 in the same soil. Th e results show that the mobility of Np-237 was in most soil horizons e ither equal or slightly enhanced as compared to that of Pu, Am, and ra diocesium.
