Xb. Zhao et Bl. He, SORPTION OF UNCONJUGATED BILIRUBIN BY MEANS OF NOVEL IMMOBILIZED BETA-CYCLODEXTRIN POLYMERS, Reactive polymers, 24(1), 1994, pp. 1-8
Three kinds of novel beta-cyclodextrin (beta-CyD) polymers were synthe
sized by immobilization of beta-CyD onto the crosslinked polystyrene s
upports with different functional groups such as -CH2Cl, -SO2Cl and -C
H2-CH-O-CH2. As biomedical absornents, they were tested for their remo
val capacity of unconjugated bilirubin (BR). The results indicate that
the adsorption capacity for BR is due to the inclusion interaction be
tween beta-CyD and BR. Many factors such as the adsorption time, the p
H value of the adsorption medium, the concentrations of BR and albumin
, the amount of beta-CyD immobilized on the supports and the degree of
crosslinking may affect the adsorption capacity. The adsorption mecha
nism was also studied.
