The present paper takes up the case of sorrow, or discontentment and a
ttempts to go into its etiology in the light of the Indian religious a
nd philosophical content. Indian philosophers observe that happiness,
pleasure or suffering and sorrow being connected with worldly events,
situation or persons are transitory. Realizing to be part of the >>Unl
imited Self<< enables a person to develop a peaceful mind and state. T
he author presents possible reasons of sorrow and describes its manage
ment in detail. One important aim of managing sorrow is the inner tran
sformation of a person in order to relieve human suffering.
