Abstract
In a ferrallitic and ferruginous soil sequence from Basse-Casamance (S enegal), the potential shrinkage-swelling of the clayey phase and the aggregate size distribution can be used to detect precisely the transi tion between the ferrallitic soils and the ferruginous soils, and lead s to a better understanding of the consequences on the behaviour of th e soils.
