Y. Argaman et G. Papkov, A STEADY-STATE MODEL FOR THE SINGLE SLUDGE ACTIVATED-SLUDGE SYSTEM .2. MODEL APPLICATION, Water research, 29(1), 1995, pp. 147-153
Bench-scale experiments using domestic wastewater were carried out und
er a constant flowrate. A set of kinetic and stoichiometric coefficien
ts was selected which resulted in a good agreement between the experim
ental results and the predictions of a proposed steady-state model. Un
its equipped with selectors showed a slower kinetics of both BOD remov
al and nitrification. This phenomena was attributed to the selection o
f different heterotrophic population or decreased mass transfer rate i
n the selector-equipped units. A sensitivity analysis indicate a high
sensitivity of the system's size to the nitrifiers growth and decay ra
tes and the denitrification nitrate utilization rate.
