MECHANOSYNTHESIS AND MECHANOLYSIS OF SOLID-SOLUTIONS OF LA2O3 WITH SOME RARE-EARTH-OXIDES

The effect of the mechanoactivation on Y2O3, Nd2O3 and CeO2, on mixtur es of La2O3 with each of these oxides as well as on the solid solution s La2O3-CeO2 is studied. The activation causes a decrease of the indiv idual oxides' unit cell parameters. The formation of solid solutions o f La2O3 with the oxides studied is found. Under the conditions of acti vation in air no decomposition of La2O3-CeO2 solid solution is detecte d. The solution is, however, destroyed when the activation is carried out in the presence of acids.
