H. Bohme et al., THE INFLUENCE OF CLIENT-CENTERED PSYCHOTH ERAPY ON CAUSAL ATTRIBUTIONS AND COPING STRATEGIES, PPmP. Psychotherapie, Psychosomatik, medizinische Psychologie, 44(12), 1994, pp. 432-439
During 3-month client-centered hospital treatment 108 patients with ne
urotic depression, anxiety disorders and other neuroses (DSM-III-R) re
covered from depressivity (Gieben-Test, MES), negative attributional s
tyles and regressive coping (KCF). Gains were maintained over follow-u
p one and two years after therapy. Not only cognitive, but also rogeri
an psychotherapy leads to significant increment in cognitive coping ef
forts, even when grade of depressivity is regarded. Attributional styl
e and coping strategies depended on grade of depressivity and status o
f patient (admission or follow-up); cognitions did not discriminate dy
sthymic (depressive) patients from other neurotic disorders.
