Abstract
This paper describes and comments on 79 species and infraspecific taxa of Trachelomonas Ehr. and Strombomonas Defl. (Euglenophyta) from oxbo w lakes in Alabama and Indiana, U.S.A. On the basis of the organisms s tudied we propose 9 new species, 7 new varieties and 1 new forma. Thir teen taxa have been examined by scanning electron microscopy.
