Ja. Eremin et al., ELECTROMAGNETIC SCATTERING FROM SINGLE ELECTRIFIED RAINDROPS, Journal of atmospheric and terrestrial physics, 57(2), 1995, pp. 141-149
On the basis of recent experiment and theoretical works carried out to
study the shape of electrified raindrops, their radiophysical and pol
ar diagram characteristics are mathematically modelled. Both a numeric
al implementation and analyses are made using models for liquid drops,
and considering factors determining their shape such as electric fiel
ds, surface charge, surface tension, hydrostatic pressure, dynamic pre
ssure and sizes, as well as the angle of the drop's axis of symmetry r
elative to the vertical. Analytical approximations for the generators
of the shapes of such drops are obtained.
