The direct analysis of elements in solids by plasma torch atomic emiss
ion spectrometry is all the more necessary when it concerns radioactiv
e and toxic samples as the setting into solution is quite long and gen
erates radioactive waste. It can be achieved through laser ablation. T
he study is composed of two parts: i) the achievement of a laser ablat
ion system coupled with a plasma torch in glove-box. The choice of the
suitable laser was set on an XeCl excimer laser. An ablation cell, ha
ndy for use in a glove-box and developing a high transport yielding wa
s created; ii) the evaluation of the analytic performances of the meth
od on the beryllium, plutonium and uranium matrices.
