A. Pattavina et S. Gianatti, PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS OF ATM BANYAN NETWORKS WITH SHARED QUEUING .2. CORRELATED UNBALANCED OFFERED TRAFFIC, IEEE/ACM transactions on networking, 2(4), 1994, pp. 411-424
The paper develops the analysis of multistage banyan interconnection n
etworks in which the switching elements are provided with a buffer sha
red among all the inlets and outlets of the element. Two different int
ernal protocols are considered for the transfer of packets from stage
to stage based on the presence or absence of interstage backpressure t
o signal the occurrence of buffer saturation conditions. The analytica
l model is based on the representation of the switching element state
by means of only two variables. Two kinds of offered traffic patterns
are considered, a bursty balanced pattern and an unbalanced uncorrelat
ed pattern. In this latter case, the load above the average is suppose
d to be addressed either to a single network outlet, or to a given gro
up of network outlets.
