Abstract
SEM and HRTEM have shown that dealumination with ammonium hexafluorosi licate of the EMT and FAU end members leads to defect-free materials w hich have an amorphous layer covering the crystals. In contrast, the d ealumination of EMT/FAU intergrowths yields materials with crevices wh ich penetrate deep into the crystals. It is postulated that these occu r in a highly intergrown region of the crystals. This is the first obs ervation of the detailed effects of dealumination.
