Monomolecular films of ferrocene derivatives and of glucose oxidase (G
OD) have been formed on a graphite electrode by the Langmuir - Schaefe
r method with the help of amphiphilic polyelectrolytes. The cyclic vol
tammograms of these films and of their interaction with GOD are studie
d. The ferrocenecarboxylic acid, incorporated into the polymeric matri
ces by adsorption to a monomolecular polymer film or by direct mixing
with a polymer solution before LB-film formation, retains its mediator
properties in the reaction with GOD. The amperometric response of the
graphite electrode with immobilized multilayer films containing polym
er matrices, ferrocenecarboxylic acid and GOD were linear over the ran
ge 1-20 mM of glucose.
