The structure of a bismuth based oxide, Bi2O3:V2O5=9:1, has been studi
ed by X-ray diffraction. This crystal has a fluorite type superstructu
re with 3 x 3 x 3 subcells. Vanadium atoms are located at every third
layers along the [111] axis and occupy the third neighbor sites of the
fee lattice. The oxygen vacancies are concentrated at nearest neighbo
r sites of the vanadium atoms.
