Abstract
The title molecule, C21H23NO2, includes a partially hydrogenated acrid ine ring system. The central ring adopts a conformation which is predo minantly boat in form (Delta = 2 degrees) while the two outer six-memb ered rings have approximate chair and twist-boat conformations (Delta( c2) = 2.6 and 8.6 degrees), respectively. The molecule has approximate mirror symmetry with the phenyl ring in the non-crystallographic mirr or plane. There is considerable folding along the bonds at the ring ju nctions. The packing of molecules involves van der Waals interactions.
